As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology Team, you apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Job responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage optical networks and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems
Plan, coordinate, install, and support the construction, migration, and decommissioning of optical metro equipment/hardware
Develop and update documentation to improve network design and production workflows
Conduct configuration, testing, monitoring, operations, and management of Optical Networks
Maintain network documentation, including long-haul optical network maps, circuit diagrams, and traffic flow charts
Plan, schedule, and create change control records, and configure network elements in a large-scale networking environment, adhering to change control policies and procedures
Provide Tier 4 support for optical network escalations, following the problem management process, which may involve network issues as well as other managed devices and services
Escalate issues to vendors as needed and assist in resolving them
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on optical network issues, identify chronic problems, and take action to determine and resolve the root cause, making network configuration changes in response to client issues
Apply technical expertise and problem-solving skills to projects of moderate scope
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
Over 5 years of experience in Optical Network Infrastructure and Fiber Optic Network Design in large-scale service delivery projects
Proven experience in managing and leading infrastructure and network projects
Advanced expertise in Optical Networking, including knowledge of ROAMS, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), and Optical Transport Network (OTN)
Ability to clearly communicate the business value and impact of complex technical and non-technical information, and knows when to seek assistance from senior management
Strong understanding of network operating systems, network equipment, and networking protocols is essential
Experience with one or more programming languages, such as JSON or Python
Experience in automating the lifecycle management of network elements or virtualized network functions
Knowledgeable in network engineering and IP Layer protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, or similar routing protocols
BS/BA or MS degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Knowledge in network security
Knowledgeable about the optical principles of fiber optic communication systems
Extensive experience in Photonics and Broadband networks
Skilled in troubleshooting optical networks at Layer 1 and Layer 3
In-depth understanding of fiber characteristics, optical modules, optical protocols, system configuration, DWDM, OTN, wavelength assignment, optical signal amplification, and standard testing methods (e.g., BERT, OTDR)
Implement and optimize Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems to enhance secure communication protocols, leveraging expertise in optical engineering to ensure robust and efficient solutions
Certified CCNA with a strong foundation in routing and switching fundamentals
