Position: Litigation Paralegal
Location: San Diego, CA
Pay: 80,000-110,000k
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Docketing of all case, rulemaking and client deadlines, additionally maintain summaries of deadlines as needed
Drafting pleadings, cite-checking and proofreading of pleadings, legal memorandum, rulemaking documents, and correspondence
Filing and service of pleadings in all assigned cases and matters
Assisting attorneys with deposition preparation and discovery requests and responses, along with enforcement pleadings
Preparing for client meetings, document productions, depositions, hearings and trials and attend same and provide further assistance as needed
Perform legal, factual, client, and agency research as well as environmental due diligence research, and draft summaries of research findings
Draft and maintain indices of case information
Additional duties include routine review and compilation of case pleadings from court cases, permit files from agencies, and client’s incoming and outgoing documents. Also maintaining clients’ electronic file with key research, correspondence, memoranda and pleadings
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree and/or qualifications to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and/or any applicable state codes, required
5+ years of experience in litigation support, handling complex cases
Experience with Natural Resources (e.g. land use, CEQA, water, real property), trial preparation, and case management
Skilled in legal research and use of legal resources databases (Westlaw, etc.)
Skilled in drafting motions, discovery, and trial documents
Skilled in filing and serving court documents electronically in state and federal courts (trial and appellate)
Strong communication skills (experience coordinating with court clerks)
Strong foundation in legal research and drafting, along with a high degree of adaptability in handling complex cases.
Proficient in monitoring court dockets and managing team calendars (Compulaw) and coordinating schedules
Experienced in preparing trial binders and compiling exhibits for trials
Conducts detailed legal and factual research to support attorneys in active cases
Exceptional organizational skills and a reputation for meticulous document management
