Location: Dallas, TX

Department: Research & Development

Reports To: Vice President of Product Development

Position Summary

We are looking for a Chemical Engineer I to support the development and optimization of processes for critical mineral recovery. In this role, you will contribute to process design, testing, and scale-up while working alongside senior engineers to enhance efficiency and sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an innovative industry focused on advancing the circular economy and reducing reliance on virgin materials.

About Momentum

Momentum Technologies specializes in the recovery of critical minerals and metals from raw materials, including lithium-ion battery production scrap, end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, magnet waste, rare earth element waste, mining tailings, and processed mining scrap. Our patented Membrane Solvent Extraction (MSX©) technology enables high-purity recycling of critical minerals with the lowest emissions, shaping a sustainable future where mobility and electronic devices are powered by reusable raw materials.

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. An advanced degree in Chemical Engineering would be a plus.

0-3 years of experience in a research position.

Experience in critical mineral recovery is a plus.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Process Development and Optimization

Develop methods and processes to recover critical minerals from various sources into the products required by different industries.

Design and scale up processes from bench to commercial scale.

Optimize processes to improve product quality, consistency, and unit economics.

Testing and Validation

Perform application testing with customer samples.

Conduct data collection and analysis to validate process performance.

Provide technical recommendations based on experimental results.

Safety and Compliance

Follow strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Identify and mitigate potential hazards in chemical handling and process development.

Collaboration and Documentation

Work closely with senior engineers, chemists, and cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

Maintain accurate documentation of process development, testing, and optimization efforts.

Stay updated on industry advancements in critical mineral recovery and recycling technologies.
