Position Title: Buyer

Position Summary:
The Buyer will be responsible for procuring materials, managing supplier relationships, and assisting with the development of procurement strategies to meet production schedules and cost-saving goals.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Purchase approved materials and services to meet Material Requirements Planning (MRP) generated requirements or purchase requisitions.
Analyze the MRP Order Action Report daily to determine material needs.
Maintain system integrity by ensuring purchased materials have accurate cost, lead time, manufacturer’s part numbers, and other relevant information. Update the system as directed by the Materials Manager.
Expedite materials as necessary by analyzing past-due purchase orders and seeking manager approval for any additional costs incurred due to expediting activities.
Assist in the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process for annual purchasing agreements and help with the negotiation process.
Create and update reports as needed by the Materials Manager.
Coordinate the qualification of new vendors.
Maintain purchase order files and file storage.
Assist in resolving accounting discrepancies.
Coordinate the return of rejected materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
1-2 years of experience in procurement, particularly with electrical/electronic components, electro-mechanical components, custom fabricated materials, hardware, cables, cable assemblies, and printed wiring assemblies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with inter-company personnel and suppliers.
Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of MRP systems.
Ability to work overtime during peak workload periods.
Attention to detail and thorough follow-through on tasks.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
US Citizenship or Permanent Legal Resident status required.
Education:
Completion of a two-year associate degree or equivalent experience and certifications.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to see, hear, file, keyboard for extended periods, and communicate fluently in English.
