Job Title: Sourcing Manager

Position Overview: The Sourcing Manager is responsible for negotiating with suppliers to acquire materials and services at optimal prices, ensuring the best total cost of ownership. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to reduce costs, consolidate suppliers, improve quality, and enhance process efficiencies. The Sourcing Manager plays a vital role in driving cost savings, improving profitability, and supporting the daily operations of Consumers Energy.

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Negotiations & Cost Management:

Negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective agreements that align with the company’s core values of safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.

Leverage strategic sourcing strategies and industry knowledge to drive down costs and improve sourcing processes.

Utilize Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Quote (RFQ) processes to facilitate efficient purchasing and supplier engagement.

Contract Management:

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and legal counsel to negotiate favorable contractual terms, ensuring reduced risk to the company.

Coordinate contract change requests and ensure all contracts are managed through to full execution.

Manage contracts to ensure compliance with commercial, legal, and contractual obligations, including company processes, policies, and procedures.

Supplier Development & Performance Management:

Work closely with Supplier Quality, Strategic Sourcing, and Business Partners to improve supplier effectiveness and drive cost reductions.

Develop metrics, frameworks, and goals for continuous improvement to maintain industry-leading practices and ensure ongoing process excellence.

Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure high-quality products and services are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

Strategic Sourcing & Process Improvement:

Use verification techniques, such as portfolio analyses and market data, to manage contractual obligations and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Work with department managers to develop leading practices for procurement and issue resolution across the organization.

Stakeholder Management & Communication:

Influence and collaborate with key stakeholders across departments to resolve issues efficiently and provide superior customer service.

Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with suppliers, internal teams, and external parties.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

Analyze drawings, Statements of Work (SOW), and project scopes to align and edit sourcing packages and contracts.

Utilize advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI, etc.) to produce reports, manage data, and analyze sourcing performance.

Key Qualifications:

Experience & Knowledge:

Proven experience in the complete procurement cycle, including managing RFQs and RFPs.

In-depth knowledge of business law, commercial terms, and conditions, with a focus on negotiation and competitive processes.

Strong understanding of procurement processes, escalation mechanisms, and sourcing management.

Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents, scope of work (SOW), and contract specifications.

Skills & Competencies:

Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and effectively resolve issues.

Advanced negotiation and supplier management skills.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI, Service Now, SAP, and Ariba.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
