Position Title: Full time Engineering Technologist
Salary: $73,500 per annum plus superannuation
Tasks include:
• Following specifications, drawings and standards to build electrical harnesses for defence vehicles, to IPC620C & VG standards
• Electrical harness assembly & integration including: cutting routing, plugging, soldering, stripping and crimping terminals onto wire/cables in line with the MIL-HDBK-454/IPC-A-620C standards
• Perform potting process (ie fill the connectors of assemblies with potting material) to build resistance to shock and vibration, and prevent moisture and dust from entering the cable harnesses
• Trouble shooting and repair of harness assemblies and integration to Land systems and Boxer vehicles
• Use of a variety of different automatic and manual tools such as crimper, stripper etc
• Perform solder splicing in line with the required IPC620 class 3 specifications
• Setting locking torque of connectors and back-shells, and locking connectors in line with manufacturer's requirements including using MIL-C-38999 adaptors
• Conduct different electrical test procedures on vehicle harnesses and its integration
• Provide "buddy support" for new team members
• Repairing and performing reworks on cable assemblies when needed
• Perform trouble shooting, field tests and repair works at customer OEM sites
• Working as part of a team, ensure excellent delivery of projects according to standards and specifications
• Assist with possible process/productivity improvements to team leader/supervisor
• Follow the company's OHS policies, processes and procedures
Skill level required:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics or a related field
• Minimum four years of relevant work experience
• Experience working in the plant maintenance is advantage
• Strong attention to detail
• Solid understanding of engineering principles, electrical schematics, and mechanical design fundamentals.
• Strong mechanical knowledge.
• Proven ability to contribute to engineering development and continuous improvement processes.
