STRUCTURAL ENGINEER IN TRAINING (E.I.T.)
Job Summary:
The Structural Engineer in Training will work under the supervision of Senior Staff to perform computer aided design, calculation checking, and other design tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Train with the Professional Engineers to perform the analysis and engineering of:
Single-family residences (production and custom)
Multi-family complexes
Retail/Low-rise commercial facilities
Ancillary structures (retaining walls, screen walls, and miscellaneous structures)
Ability to utilize a variety of building materials including:
Dimensional lumber
Engineered wood products
Masonry
Concrete
Cold-formed steel
Steel
Create structural design drawings, calculations, and details under the direction of Professional Engineers.
Review shop drawing submittals.
Perform site visits to various project sites.
Follows company policies and procedures
Any other duties not specifically defined herein that will support the engineering team’s efforts

Familiar with the IRC/IBC, NDS, ACI, ASCE 7, and other codes

Knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software including Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Docs, and Adobe or related software. Familiar with structural design software such as ENERCAL, PTISlab, or STAAD is a plus.
Occasional travel to project sites for site visits, inspections, or meetings
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural, or Civil Engineering (with Structural Emphasis preferred) from an ABET accredited university.
E.I.T. certification or the ability to obtain the certification within six months.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to see to inspect using up close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
Required to wear PPE (ex. hard hats, safety glasses, etc…)
May be required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
Work Environment:
The work environment is in an indoor/outdoor setting and is subject to hot, cold, windy and wet weather
conditions resulting in heat and dust exposure.
