Reports to: Specialist Production Engineering
Position summary (General Purpose): Under Specialist direction, provides hands on technical support to meet production requirements. Analyze specifications, lay-out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
Qualifications (Basic Knowledge, skills and abilities):
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to read, understand, and follow all ISO 14001 guidelines.
2 years experience working as tool and die
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
Design, build, and maintain dies, jigs, and fixtures
Troubleshoot and repair tooling problems
Set-up and operate lathe, mill, saws, and surface grinders
Assist Specialist with department business plan
Achieves goals set forth by Newman Technology business plan
Essential Job Requirements:

Machining experience
Nonessential skills and experience (preferred):
Mig and tig welding experience
Computer literacy
