Key Responsibilities and Areas of Accountability Procurement Strategy and Management: Strategy Development: Formulate and communicate a robust procurement strategy, identifying strategic suppliers to deliver a sustainable competitive edge Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement an ongoing improvement plan for purchasing to minimize wastage, and costs in line with the business strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Operations, and Technical teams to foster innovation and secure a sustainable and competitive supply of raw materials.
Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor purchasing key performance indicators and variance analysis routines to track procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
Tender Management: Create and manage strategic tender processes.
Stock Management: Proactively manage material stocks within targeted working capital levels to reduce waste and write-offs.
Supplier Management: Develop and execute a supplier audit strategy to ensure compliance with legislation and meet performance KPI's.
Manage supplier relationships to ensure high performance and contractor assurance.
Compliance and Specifications: Ensure all purchased materials meet business specifications and compliance needs.
Logistics Management: Oversee logistical provisions and third-party storage for optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
System Utilization: Advocate for and lead the development and use of the El management systems.
Internal Communication: Maintain effective communication with internal departments regarding procurement and supply matters.
Team Management Direct Reports: Manage direct reports to ensure departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
Performance Improvement: Enhance departmental performance through recruitment, induction, appraisals, goal setting, personal development planning (PDP), training, coaching, and attendance management.
Team Collaboration: Ensure the Procurement team engages and communicates productively with other business functions and sites Negotiation Skills: Train and coach the purchasing team in negotiating purchasing contracts and one-off purchases.
Stock Management Training: Educate the procurement team on effective stock management practices.
Finance Budget Management: Operate within agreed budget constraints and adhere to the company's formal Limits of Authority at all times.

Additional Duties: Undertake any other tasks and duties as required by the Skills, Knowledge & Experience Degree in Supply Chain/Procurement Management or a Commercial Degree (B.Com.) Registration or accreditation with a professional procurement management body is an advantage Minimum of 10 years' experience in Procurement Experience in a supervisory role/managing teams Demonstrated experience in strategic procurement processes Experience in commodity procurement is advantageous Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and reporting skills Strong teamwork ethic Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities effectively
