We are looking for energetic, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals to become part of our summer camp staff! As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for all campers. Your responsibilities will include leading activities, supervising children, and helping build a positive camp experience.

Job Title: Summer Camp Counselor

Location: Van Schaick Grade School in Cohoes, NY

Hours: 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM

Job Type: Seasonal (Summer)

Reports To: Camp Director / Regional Director

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise campers and actively engage with them to ensure their safety and enjoyment.

Plan and lead daily camp activities such as group games, creative arts, water fun, sports, outdoor exploration, and team-building sessions.

Promote camper involvement, excitement, and positive social interactions.

Serve as a positive example by modeling leadership, cooperation, and effective problem-solving.

Manage camper behavior with patience and professionalism.

Support meal times, cleanup efforts, and general camp operations.

Comply with all camp protocols and safety regulations.

Provide basic first aid and respond appropriately to emergencies.

Communicate clearly with fellow staff, school partners, campers, and parents when necessary.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

Must be at least 18 years old.

Prior experience working with kids (e.g., babysitting, coaching, tutoring, youth programs) is a plus.

Confident in leading activities and keeping kids engaged in a positive, inclusive way.

Strong skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership.

Brings patience, creativity, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with children.

CPR and First Aid certification preferred—or willingness to obtain before camp begins.

Comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions.

Must complete state-mandated training upon hiring.

Ability to pass a background check.
