We are looking for a passionate, responsible, and enthusiastic individual to become part of our summer camp team! As a Summer Camp Program Director, your primary role will be to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience for all campers. You will lead activities, oversee camper safety, and contribute to a positive camp atmosphere. We’re searching for a dynamic Director to oversee our Summer Program for the 2025 season in the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union.
JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday
HOURS: Varies from 8am-5pm
PAY: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring Compliance: Make sure both staff and the program follow state regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and the rules of our host school.
Creating Fun: Direct hands-on activities based on the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic tasks, arts, and more. And yes, you'll help campers with their homework, too—become their homework hero!
Managing Operations: Oversee key management responsibilities, such as keeping attendance and registration records up to date and ensuring proper staffing levels for smooth operations.
Communicating Effectively: Keep parents and families informed through the Playground App, sharing important updates.
Team Collaboration: Stay in close communication with your supervisor, providing daily updates and addressing any issues quickly. By working together as a team, we’ll create a positive environment and ensure top-quality care while proactively addressing any challenges that arise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and actively engage with campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Plan and lead camp activity sessions, including morning assemblies, active games, creative arts, water activities, sports, outdoor adventures, and team-building exercises.
Foster camper participation, enthusiasm, and positive interactions.
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Monitor camper behavior and resolve any issues with patience and professionalism.
Assist with meal supervision, cleaning up, and other camp tasks as needed.
Follow all camp policies and safety procedures.
Provide first aid and respond to emergencies when required.
Communicate clearly with staff, campers, school partners, and parents as necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
To qualify as a director, you must meet or exceed the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old and hold a BA, BS, or Associate's degree, along with one of the following:
At least 10 months of direct experience working with school-age children, or
Vermont On-the-Job Training certificate, or
Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential, or
Vermont Program Director Credential, or
Vermont Teacher Licensure, or
A Master’s Degree in a youth-related field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of a background check.
Clearance from your doctor, confirming you are fit to perform all job duties and free of any communicable diseases, including TB.
Friendly, approachable, and positive, with excellent people skills—whether interacting with kids, parents, or team members.
Reliable, professional, and punctual.
Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs. and keep up with energetic campers!
