Hourly Rate: $17.00 per hour

The Maintenance and Custodial Technician will ensure their work aligns with the mission of Healthy Kids, applying Healthy Kids Core Values as a foundation for all tasks and responsibilities.

Position Overview:

Healthy Kids is seeking a dependable, proactive, and meticulous individual to fill the Custodian role. This position is responsible for the routine cleaning and upkeep of our Daycare offices located in New Windsor, NY, twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Occasional assignments at other nearby centers may be requested on an as-needed basis. This role also includes reporting any facility issues discovered after hours, managing cleaning supplies, restocking materials, and taking out trash each shift.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning duties for office facilities include:

Monitoring cleaning supply levels and submitting orders as necessary to replenish stock.

Sweeping and mopping tiled floors in the three office spaces, three times per week.

Vacuuming carpets in office areas and common areas, including hallways and bathrooms.

Disposing of trash in each office nightly.

Maintaining cleanliness of all bathrooms within the building.

Wiping down all hard surfaces, including door handles and high-touch areas.

Rotating cleaning of windowsills, doorjambs, vents, and other often-overlooked areas every two weeks.

Occasionally cleaning windows as required.

Performing other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Skills and Competencies:

Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Capability to pass a background screening.

Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their proper usage.

Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

Effective time management skills, able to meet deadlines consistently.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead and guide others when needed.

Strong task prioritization skills.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED.

At least 3 years of cleaning experience, with 2 years or more being preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of employment history.

Language Skills:

Able to read and comprehend documents such as safety instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedure manuals.

Capable of writing basic reports and correspondence.

Comfortable speaking with customers or team members.

Able to communicate effectively with internal staff, including program staff.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to solve practical problems and manage varied tasks with limited guidance.

Able to understand and follow different types of instructions, including written, oral, and diagrammatic formats.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here reflect what is required for an employee to perform the core duties of this job. While carrying out the responsibilities of this role, the employee will need to:

Engage in active movement, including lifting carpets, filling mop buckets, and occasionally moving furniture.

Frequently stand, walk, and use hands for handling, reaching, and manipulating objects.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Specific vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
