Position: Electrical Standards Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $87,000 KYD doe

Work Environment: Hybrid

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for research, design, development, and maintenance of new and existing materials, methods, and equipment standards for all Transmission and Distribution (T&D) equipment, including Substation HV/MV equipment and power transformers. This role requires expertise in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering principles and a deep understanding of industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain design and construction standards for overhead and underground primary and secondary voltage lines in compliance with NESC, CSA, ANSI, IEEE, or other North American standards.

Manage and oversee the review, production, updating, and approval of T&D equipment standards, ensuring the maintenance of a structured, version-controlled database of all relevant documentation.

Lead and execute projects related to the upgrade and maintenance of T&D and production systems.

Authenticate designs for standard and non-standard applications as required by regulations and external agencies.

Provide engineering support for energy operations, customer projects, and technical committees.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical specialization preferred).

Minimum of 8 years of post-degree experience in T&D Engineering within jurisdictions utilizing North American T&D standards.

Registration or eligibility for registration with a professional engineering association as a Chartered or Professional Engineer.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technical drawing software such as AutoCAD.

Key Competencies:

Expertise in electric utility standards and the ability to implement updates accordingly.

Strong networking ability to develop and maintain technical relationships with industry peers and suppliers.

Application of practical and technical knowledge to solve complex design, maintenance, and project-related issues.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Working knowledge of electrical, civil, and structural design.
