The IT Operations Manager’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Operations Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This individual provides administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT Operations department. The IT Operations Manager will assist the VP of IT Operations to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This person will monitor and ensure compliance with IT policies, standard, procedures, and best practices. The IT Operations Manager manages and directs the work of IT Operations staff as well as the work of outsource providers and business partners.

The IT Operations Manager will maintain the enterprise security stance through policy, architecture and training processes. This will include the recommendation of appropriate security solutions, and oversight of any compliance audits and security assessments. The IT Operations Manager is expected to interface with peers of other business units to both share the corporate security vision with those individuals and to solicit their involvement in achieving higher levels of enterprise security through information sharing and co-operation.

Required Skills

Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server and Windows PC operating systems.

Strong technical knowledge of network hardware, protocols and standards.

Extensive application support experience.

Knowledge of Harborstone’s organizational goals and objectives.

Applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Security frameworks including CIS Top 20, NIST and PCIDSS.

Risk-based and Compliance-based cybersecurity strategies.

Human resource management principles, practices and procedures.

Project management principles and practices.

IT Service Management with foundational knowledge of ITIL and/or COBIT.

Datacenter management including power, environmental and fire suppression systems.

Working knowledge of mainframe computing systems in a financial institution environment.

Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment. Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.

Oversee provision of end-user services, including service desk and technical support services.

Research potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts based on defined business requirements. Report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure. Assist VP—IT Operations with financial aspects of the IT Department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.

Keep current with the latest technologies.

Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

Assist with the development, implementation and enforcement of IT standards and procedures, including those for system architecture, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, and service provision.

Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data residing on or transmitted to/from/through enterprise workstations, servers and other systems and in databases and other data repositories through enforcement of enterprise security policies and standards as well as through security awareness training.

Maintain departmental Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, where appropriate. Assist in management of incident response activity and provide on-going communication with management and senior management.

Required Experience

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities, required in performing the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Minimum of five years with mainframe, client server, databases, and/or network operations. Two years of supervisory experience in information systems processing work environment preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

CERTIFICATE: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ITIL Foundation/ IT Service Management, or related certification preferred.
