JOB SPECIFICATION

Position: Math Interventionist

Department/Location: Campus Special Education; Great Hearts Texas DFW and San Antonio

Reportsto: Special Education Campus Coordinator

Supervisor: Campus Headmaster

FLSA STATUS:Exempt; Full-time

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

TheMathematics Interventionistis a highly qualified teacher of mathematics who:

Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in 1:1 and/or small group settings.

Develops a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics.

Ensures that students master grade level standards and curriculum

Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction.

Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and meet the needs and capabilities of students

Effectively analyzes/uses data and conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, plan instruction, and assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.

Identifies student needs and data to guide the learning process toward achievement of district's math content standards.

Monitors and assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Understands how to use technology for instructional planning, i.e. creating reports and using data to plan lessons.

Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data.

Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and interventions.

Completes other duties as assigned Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in math, education, or related field required

3 years of experience teaching students mathematics in a K-12 school setting

Texas Teaching Certification

Knowledge of Algebra I and Algebra II preferred

Campus leadership and/or experience providing coaching/feedback preferred

Proven track record of instructing diverse learners, including English Language Learners and Special Education students, in the area of mathematics.

Experience and training in administering assessments and analyzing data to drive instruction.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships

Detailed-oriented with strong organization and time management skills Compensation:

Additional Requirements:

Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Texas fingerprint clearance card.

Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.

Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the metro area.
