About the Role:
Join a thriving, established cannabis company (200+ employees) as we begin our next stage of growth into the Minneapolis area. We're looking for a motivated and hands-on Assistant Manager (AM) to help lead our retail store operations. As a key part of the store leadership team, you'll supervise employees, manage inventory and cash processes, uphold compliance standards, and ensure outstanding customer experience. You'll be the go-to leader on the floor—keeping the store running smoothly while mentoring your team.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations & Leadership
Oversee daily retail operations including opening/closing duties
Coordinate shift coverage and staff scheduling to ensure proper coverage
Provide on-the-spot coaching, support team development, and maintain performance standards
Enforce store policies and procedures to uphold compliance and consistency
Communicate effectively with store leadership and corporate teams
Customer Service & Experience
Maintain a clean, welcoming, and service-driven environment
Support customers at every touchpoint—resolving issues promptly and professionally
Champion loyalty programs, promotions, and upselling strategies
Train staff on service best practices and ensure a strong customer-first culture
Cash & Inventory Management
Oversee cash drawer accuracy, petty cash, and EOD reconciliation
Support bank pickups, deposits, and vault security processes
Manage product receipts, restocking, audits, and vendor returns
Conduct inventory adjustments and ensure loss prevention protocols are followed
Visual Merchandising & Technology
Ensure all displays, menus, and marketing signage reflect current offerings and promotions
Maintain kiosk menus, in-store digital screens, and physical signage
Troubleshoot POS, kiosk, or display issues and report technical concerns
Staff Development & Training
Mentor new hires and support onboarding processes
Assist in delivering ongoing training for policies, compliance, sales techniques, and safety
Monitor attendance, performance, and timesheets
Support progressive discipline and provide feedback for promotions
Reporting & Compliance
Complete EOD and cash reports, labor tracking, and customer complaint logs
Report employee conflicts, policy violations, and safety concerns to leadership
Stay up to date with compliance training, SOP updates, and store policies
Qualifications:
1-3 years of retail or supervisory experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Previous retail, sales and/or customer service experience
We do not require previous professional experience in the cannabis industry but would prefer the applicant be a consumer of the product
Flexible availability including weekends, evenings and holidays
This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions such as standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly (up to 200 pounds with assistance), with or without reasonable accommodation
Must commit to coming to work sober.
Successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check
Minimum 21 years of age
