Unicoi State Park & Lodge is seeking a hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations across our stunning mountain resort property. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll lead a dedicated team to ensure our facilities and systems are safe, efficient, and running smoothly—delivering an exceptional guest experience in the heart of Georgia’s natural beauty.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, plan, and execute engineering and maintenance projects from start to finish—on time and within budget.

Develop project timelines, manage resources, and coordinate with internal departments and contractors.

Implement and manage a preventive maintenance program for building systems and guest-facing areas.

Maintain and manage inventory, procurement, and budgets related to tools, parts, and equipment.

Ensure full compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and DNR/State of Georgia guidelines.

Maintain records of maintenance work, utilities, costs, and equipment performance.

Support emergency response efforts and building system restoration in urgent situations.

Oversee the lodge’s Loss Prevention Program and enforce lock/key control protocols.

Recruit, train, and supervise engineering team members—providing coaching, performance reviews, and scheduling.

Collaborate with the Safety Committee and other departments to improve procedures and workplace safety.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

Associate’s degree (or equivalent technical training) preferred.

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in engineering, maintenance, or facilities management; supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Solid understanding of building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety equipment.

Strong project management and budgeting skills.

Valid Driver’s License required.

Skills & Attributes:

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of retail POS systems is a plus.

Comfortable working in physically demanding environments, including lifting up to 60 lbs and working in extreme weather conditions.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

A team-first mindset with the initiative to lead and improve systems and service quality.
