TPS (Toyota Production System) Engineer – Assembly Department
Location: Toyoda Gosei - San Antonio, TX
Job Overview:
Toyoda Gosei, a Tier 1 supplier to Toyota, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled TPS Engineer to join our Assembly Department. The ideal candidate will leverage their knowledge of the Toyota Production System (TPS) to drive continuous improvement, streamline operations, and ensure optimal production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement TPS principles: Apply and promote Toyota Production System (TPS) methodologies, including Just-in-Time (JIT), Kaizen, and Jidoka, to enhance productivity, quality, and safety within the assembly processes.
Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in Kaizen events, identify process inefficiencies, and propose effective solutions to reduce waste, improve flow, and optimize resources.
Root Cause Analysis: Utilize problem-solving techniques, such as the 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams, to address production issues and prevent recurrence.
Standardize Work: Develop and maintain standardized work procedures to ensure consistency and quality across the assembly lines.
Training & Development: Provide training and support to operators and team members on TPS principles, tools, and techniques to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, production) to implement TPS improvements and achieve performance targets.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on key production metrics to monitor process performance and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a related field.
Experience with Toyota Production Systems (TPS) or similar lean manufacturing practices is highly preferred.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with production monitoring software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, particularly in assembly operations.
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is a plus.
Familiarity with Toyota’s production processes and standards.
