Summary/Objective

The Senior Network Administrator is a hands-on role that is responsible for managing, troubleshooting, and supporting the BJCC's network infrastructure across the entire campus. This includes oversight of entire network ecosystem—from core data center infrastructure powered by Cisco SDA to the campus network, edge switches, VoIP systems, wireless devices, and over-the-air (OTA) systems where applicable as well as support for other converged network services that rely on the core infrastructure.

In addition to technical responsibilities, the Senior Network Administrator works closely with other IT team members, event planners and event managers to gather technology requirements for conferences, concerts, and sporting events, ensuring successful delivery and execution of those requirements.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of the following:

Oversee configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of core network infrastructure including BJCC core routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controller’s and plan needed network software and firmware upgrades.

Maintain, troubleshoot and resolve any network issues on LAN, WLAN, VOIP across the BJCC campus to ensure reliable operation and security of BJCC network. his may involve layer 1 cabling and testing.

Manage BJCC datacenter networking and infrastructure, including rack-mounted switches, routers, firewalls, and Hyperconverged Infrastructure HCI.

Utilize available network monitoring tools to proactively monitor the network to identify and address performance issues, downtime, and potential vulnerabilities

Assist in supporting connectivity for other BJCC Systems including but not limited to SCADA systems (Lighting Controls, Building Automations) AV/IPTV systems, Access Control Systems, Digital Signage, Ticketing systems.

Manage and maintain BJCC VOIP network including legacy analog/POTS lines still used across campus for essential services, and other critical systems as well as broadcast.

Design, configure, and implement network modifications following security best practices to ensure redundancy, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

Provide input and leadership for network and infrastructure upgrade projects and acts as the senior Network SME to all facets of the business and IT.

Maintain and updates technical documentation, network diagrams, layouts, and any changes made to the infrastructure as well as generate regular reports on network performance, network usage both for IT use but also for event planners as requested.

Serves as a point of escalation for IT Helpdesk and determine root cause of issues and communicate appropriately to internal and external customers to ensure that end users requests are addressed quickly and effectively.

Work closely with BJCC event managers, venue managers and event planners to provide event technology solutions and support as required.

Maintain professional vendor relationships for network and VOIP services to ensure BJCC and BJCC tenants maintains the best possible services.

Work Environment

This position may have a moderate to extensive stress level associated with dealing with crowds of public visitors. The environment is fast paced, mainly indoors, however position may be required to work outdoors and exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Ability to lift up to 40lbs with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for brief periods of time.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred or equivalent technical or professional experience related to the design, installation, and maintenance of enterprise systems and network.

Minimum of five 5+ years of experience in network administration or network engineering in a complex, enterprise environment.

Professional experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms for managing virtualized datacenter environment.

Strong experience with Cisco networking technologies, including SDA (Software-Defined Access), DNA Center, and Cisco ISE.

Proficient with switching, routing (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, wireless networks, DHCP, DNS, IPAM and containerization technologies.

Minimum of 2-years using cloud services and solutions such as Azure, Offce365, AWS, Rackspace, Adobe.

Experience in using scripting languages and telemetry visualization tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, Grafana) for automating repetitive tasks such as patch management, reporting or system monitoring, as well as database management systems such as MS-SQL, My-SQL.

Documentable knowledge of local LAN and wireless network operation; computer software and hardware; knowledge of data communications, network planning and analysis; and vendor evaluations.

Technical certification(s) such as CCNP, CCNA (Enterprise), VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent preferred.

Familiarity with ITIL best practices and methodologies.

Exceptional customer service skills.

Working knowledge of shared tenant service contracts.

Ability to interact with vendors and clients in coordinating additional services and equipment needs.

Experience in developing budgets and revenue projections.
