Position Summary
In this position, you will solve difficult manufacturing problems and work with members to implement process and product improvements. You will be responsible for programming multi-axis CNC machines to produce complex components in a large, diverse machine shop with high-mix, low-volume production rates, as well as researching and selecting proper CNC cutting tools.
Responsibilities
Create and modify simple to complex CNC programs using CAM software
Edit existing programs to improve efficiency in cycle-time and tool life
Observe, troubleshoot, and support machine first-runs to ensure program quality and robustness
Support design reviews to ensure part drawings and models represent part manufacturability during development; includes making recommendations to improve part manufacturability
Research and select proper CNC cutting tools based on the material being used, surface finish requirements, and tolerances
Participate and provide recommendations for selection of new tool/fixture designs and new work holdings
Create, maintain, and improve cutting tool packages
Create, manage, and modify post processors
Required Experience
At least 5 years of direct CNC programming experience
Proven knowledge of CNC machine operations (setup, programming, and controls), cutting tools, tool holders, and workpiece clamping devices
Solid knowledge of and experience using CAD/CAM software (our team specifically uses Esprit)
Solid knowledge of print reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including the ability to interpret tolerances on prints
Solid understanding of manual and CNC equipment
