Non-profit accounting consultants, this one is for you! We are looking for an experienced consultant to join our client's team on a 100% remote basis. This is a 6-month project that could extend beyond that. Our client is interested in bringing on a tech savvy accountant (at the senior or manager level) that can support it's government reporting function. Ideally you have experience with federal reporting, grant management, and month/year end close. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, donor fund tracking, and audit readiness within a world class non-profit (major brand recognition). The ideal person will bring strong analytical skills and expertise in fund accounting to support various projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting during monthly and annual close processes.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts, to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
• Manage tracking and reporting for government grants, donor funds, and major gifts to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Support audit readiness activities by gathering necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to financial standards.
• Assist with the application process for government grants and oversee endowment fund management.
• Collaborate on special accounting projects related to fund reporting and general ledger maintenance.
• Utilize advanced tools, such as Power Platform and Workday Financial, to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
• Provide expertise in fund accounting for non-profit organizations, ensuring transparency and proper allocation of resources.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit accounting.
• Proficiency in fund accounting, including donor fund tracking, endowment fund management, and government grant reporting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Solid understanding of general ledger processes and journal entries.
• Powerful Microsoft Excel skills required for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with Workday Financial Management software.
• Experience with Power Platform, including Power Automate, is preferred.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and support audit readiness.
