Cost Accountant

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team in Henrico, Virginia. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency by analyzing costs, reconciling accounts, and supporting budgeting processes. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to collaborate across teams to improve overall business performance.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular reviews of Profit and Loss (P& L) accounts to verify postings align with established policies and procedures.

• Analyze variances between actuals and forecasts, ensuring appropriate adjustments are made and documented.

• Gather business explanations for variances and prepare detailed reports for review.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts with sub-ledgers or manual schedules, addressing discrepancies as needed.

• Perform periodic risk assessments on accounts and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.

• Plan and execute book-closing and reporting activities with accuracy and timeliness.

• Collaborate with relevant teams to develop forecasts and budgets for assigned accounts.

• Partner with operational teams to enhance business and operational metrics.

• Stay updated on accounting, regulatory, and reporting requirements outlined in organizational guidelines.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• Minimum of 5–6 years of relevant experience in cost accounting.

• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, including balance sheets and budgeting.

• Proven expertise in project-based cost analysis and reporting.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Familiarity with accounting software systems and ERP solutions.

• Ability to work 100% onsite in Henrico, Virginia.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage financial data effectively.
