Location: NORTH of Milwaukee

Job Summary:

The Brake Press Set-up/Operator is responsible for the daily setup and operation of manual, mechanical and computer controlled metal working equipment in a fabrication shop environment. He/she may be required to assist other operators as a helper on key work or machines as required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Setup, operate and adjust mechanical and manual sheet/plate steel forming equipment.

Setup, program, operate and adjust CNC controlled sheet/plate steel forming equipment.

Select the correct tooling for the job task with setup documents or supervisor/lead assistance.

Load, install and correctly set up the tools required with some assistance from supervisor/lead.

Able to troubleshoot metal forming problems.

Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues or seek assistance.

Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.

Account for time and work completed via a labor reporting system.

Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and completed work.

Report and document basic material, production and quality control issues.

Maintain performance log books on assigned area equipment, report deficiencies to the maintenance group.

Participate in equipment maintenance at the operator level.

Ability to work independently.

Positive and Strong work ethic.

Adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge and understanding of sheet/plate steel forming characteristics.

Competent at basic dimensional measuring and the use of precision measurement tools.

Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids.

Ability to work with various types of metal forming constraints with guidance.

Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.

Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement.

Ability to work well in a fast paced environment to meet team expectations.

Education and Experience:

Qualification Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Strong work ethic

High School diploma or GED required

Team player with a positive, “can do” attitude

Basic mathematical skills and ability to perform precise measurements using a tape measure

The following is a plus but is not required:

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

A certificate from college or technical school is a plus.
