About the Role
Parry Labs is seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our Engineering team to support Ground & Maritime Command & Control (GMC2) programs. The Chief Engineer reports to the Vice President of Engineering and serves as the touch point between Engineering and Technology organizations. They provide guidance to the Engineering Solutions Directorate (ESD) in establishing the design approach, translate established approach to the Project Engineer, and ensure adherence to the approach during program execution through review and approval of requirements, design, test, etc. The Chief Engineer serves as the technical spokesperson for their respective programs and advises the Project Engineer, Program Manager, and Customer/Government Stakeholders on technical direction and priorities in the application of Parry Labs’ products and services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Obtain and maintain a high level of proficiency in existing Parry Labs product and service offerings, the technology those products and services are based on, and the possible applications of those products and services.
Research, analyze, and evaluate current and emerging technologies and tools, with a focus on application of Parry Labs offerings and our engineering efficiency and effectiveness.
Advise the Engineering Leadership Team (ELT) in the course of meeting Discipline Efficiency and Effectiveness responsibilities (i.e., implementation of process, tools, and automation).
Contribute to the proliferation of technical knowledge amongst the ELT and Engineering organization.
Provide feedback to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on how adoption, onboarding, and utilization of technology on program execution is performing and what wants and needs expressed by existing customers should be considered for incorporation into the Parry Labs Technology Roadmap.
Serve as the program technical authority, directing the design and implementation of Parry Labs products and services, ensuring the integrity of the technical baseline and adherence to the proposed solution and Technology Roadmap.
Review, advise, approve, and present technical content for Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and milestone technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR).
Communicate and advise on complex technical information to technical and non-technical decision makers and stakeholders, internal and external to Parry Labs.
Lead technical engagements with government and prime contractor customers to understand their requirements and expectations.
Produce recommendation reports, analysis of alternatives, and gap analysis of any relevant tools and technology that can aid customer missions.
Gain insight into future needs and scope growth opportunities in the course of fulfilling Customer Alignment responsibilities.
Advise current customers and business partners on the application of Parry Labs offerings to meet their emerging needs.
Collaborate with the ESD in the course of defining new solutions for Request for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) responses.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or another related STEM field.
10+ years of experience in defense/DOD.
Experience in requirements development, integration and test, and customer sell-off.
Experience integrating hardware and software systems in a lab and field test environments.
Proficiency in relevant software tools: requirement analysis tools, CI/CD pipelines, Agile management tools, and test management tools.
Deep understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles.
Experience implementing UVC, IOP v7 (RAS-G) and IOP v1.2 (RAS-A) standards.
Expertise in hardware/software abstraction layers (HALs) and interface control documents (ICDs).
Experience developing and integrating Command and Control (C2) systems across air and ground RAS platforms.
Working knowledge of cross-platform C2 implementation (e.g., Android 14 / Ubuntu 22.04).
Ability to support multi-asset control, including UxS, payloads, and video feeds.
Familiarity with RVMS, ASIL-D equivalent safety systems, and command arbitration logic.
Background in certification strategies for modular safety software (MIL-STD-882E, LOR-1).
Experience deploying modular software to edge compute environments (e.g., M2C2, ARM/GPU SBCs).
Proficient with container orchestration, DevSecOps pipelines, and open-source hypervisors.
Knowledge of STRATIA®, Docker, Kubernetes, and government-secured OS baselines.
Hands-on experience integrating with TAK, NGC2, MMC, and other Army C2 nodes.
Deep knowledge of VMF, CoT, and MIL-STD-2525-D symbology.
Understanding of MPMS (Mission Planning and Management Systems) and collaborative COP management.
Proven success in large-scale system-of-systems (SoS) software integration.
Skilled in incremental software delivery aligned with government-defined drops (e.g., MVP, Code Lock, 0.9).
Leadership in establishing architecture baselines, conducting design reviews, and managing interface compliance.
Familiarity with RMF, ATO, Fortify, and FIPS 140-3 requirements.
Experience leading teams through vulnerability remediation and STIG alignment.
Cybersecurity-first mindset across DevSecOps lifecycle.
Prior experience with Army/RCCTO, Navy PMS-401, or USMC C2 modernization programs.
Comfortable interfacing with government PMs, ATEC, and LSI/GLSI teams.
Strong grasp of government rights models (e.g., GPR) and technical data delivery requirements.
