Software Engineering Manager

We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Engineer / Engineering Manager to join us at our Midtown Toronto office.

You’re a senior-level engineer with a startup mindset—hands-on, adaptable, and proactive. You’ve built and shipped real-time or cloud-based products, and you’re just as comfortable leading a team as you are jumping in to debug a complex deployment. You’re passionate about technology, but you also have strong communication and people skills, allowing you to manage customer relationships and support delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small, high-performing engineering team.

• Design and implement scalable, cloud-native video processing solutions.

• Own customer technical relationships, including onboarding, ongoing support, and troubleshooting.

• Collaborate with product and business teams to deliver high-quality features and solutions.

• Participate in architecture decisions and code reviews, and set engineering best practices.

• Support customer deployments and provide hands-on problem-solving.

• Represent the engineering team in client meetings, presentations, and technical reviews.

Requirements

• Mandatory startup experience: You’ve been through the highs and lows and know how to get things done with limited resources.

• Expert-level knowledge in:

• Cloud infrastructure (AWS)

• Containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)

• Video streaming and processing (FFmpeg, GStreamer)

• Strong experience with:

• Infrastructure automation (Ansible)

• Source control and CI/CD workflows (Git)

• Hands-on technical leadership and team management experience.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Proven ability to manage customer accounts and provide technical support.

Nice to Have

• Experience with HLS, DASH, WebRTC, RTSP and RTMP, or other video protocols.

• Experience with IP cameras, DVR/NVRs, ONVIF and VMS.

• Prior roles involving direct interaction with enterprise clients.

• Contributions to open-source video or cloud infrastructure projects.
