The Hydrogen Isotope Science Group at Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a Tritium Technology Materials Scientist. We want a highly motivated individual to work towards pushing boundaries of materials science to develop cutting-edge solutions for tritium applications. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in materials science and polymer science, preferably coupled with post-doctoral experience. The selected candidate will also possess demonstrated expertise in coding and machine learning techniques applied to materials research and development.

Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to research projects focused on the development and characterization of polymeric materials for tritium applications.

Write research proposals aligned to SRNL's core competencies

Develop and apply computational tools, including machine learning algorithms, for materials discovery, property prediction, and process optimization.

Design and conduct experiments, and analyze results,

Collaborate with cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers.

Contribute to intellectual property development through patent and copyright applications.

Qualifications

PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering + 2-4 years of post-doctoral experience in an academic or national laboratory environment

Demonstrated expertise in polymer synthesis and characterization

Strong track record of publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals.

Advanced communication skills involving complicated topics.

Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards.

For ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
