Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Sr. Grant Accountant to oversee the financial and accounting aspects of nonprofit grant activities. This long-term contract position is based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and plays a vital role in ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and effective grant management. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit accounting and a proven ability to handle complex financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate grant agreements to ensure they align with university policies, financial objectives, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct thorough reviews of grant-related contracts to identify potential risks and financial obligations.
• Allocate grant expenses accurately while adhering to budgetary guidelines and cost principles.
• Perform regular reconciliations of accounts to maintain accurate financial records and proper expense categorization.
• Develop and deliver detailed financial reports on grant activities, including compliance audits and performance metrics.
• Collaborate closely with department heads, research teams, and external funders to address inquiries and provide financial insights.
• Monitor cash activity related to grants to ensure alignment with funding guidelines and requirements.
• Support compliance audits by preparing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
• Offer guidance on government grant requirements and ensure adherence to relevant regulations.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting and grant management.
• Demonstrated expertise in grant accounting processes and compliance.
• Proficient in account reconciliation and expense allocation.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with university systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical abilities paired with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven success in managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of government grants and associated regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
