DISEASE INTERVENTION SPECIALIST I

Status: Full-Time Salary: $38,000
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) is an investigator that assists in the intervention of the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). DIS investigates reported, suspected, and potential cases of HIV, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea. Investigations include interviews with those infected with specific STDs, interacting with healthcare providers, and contacting clients by phone and/or in person. DIS must document all investigations on forms required by ISDH and/or CDC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma. Two year’s experience in a medical setting
Must complete a training course entitled Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Employee Development Guide and achieve a grade of 80% or higher on all exams required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Must complete the CDC course for HIV Counseling and Testing.
Must complete the CDC’s Introduction to Sexually Transmitted Disease Investigation course and demonstrate the ability to conduct a thorough, well-planned STD case investigation.
Have basic computer skills including the ability to utilize database, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
Completion of phlebotomy training within 8 weeks of hire with appropriate immunizations and knowledge of blood-borne pathogens and precautions.
Must have a car and maintain a valid driver’s license
