Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC (“MES”) is looking for a Project Surveyor to join our team! MES is a multifaceted utility and telecommunications engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The Project Surveyor will be involved in collecting and analyzing data to support our engineering projects.
Responsibilities will include:
Carry out field surveys to measure and map land, using various surveying instruments to establish precise control points and reference systems.
Collect precise measurements, coordinates and other relevant data, like elevation, distance and angles, to establish boundaries and features of the land.
Perform topographic surveys to map natural and man-made features of the land, including contours, vegetation, utilities and structures.
Utilise survey data analysis to create detailed maps, plans and documentation with Geographic Information System (GIS) and CAD software.
Collaborate with project teams to determine and support engineering and construction activities, providing recommendations for planning and design.
Conduct research and analysis to gather relevant information on land records, property titles and legal restrictions.
Ensure compliance with surveying standards, regulations and safety protocols in India.
Communicate with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers and contractors, to clarify requirements and address survey-related concerns.
Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
Follow safety protocols and procedures during fieldwork and adhere to ethical standards in surveying practices.
Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the surveying field.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in surveying or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment and software, preferably in the Indian context.
Experience in land survey laws, regulations and practices in India.
Proficiency in using surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, laser scanners and CAD software for surveying and land mapping.
Solid understanding of survey calculations, geodesy and coordinate systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret survey data and resolve discrepancies.
Analytical and mathematical abilities with attention to detail in survey measurements and documentation.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
