Title: Shift Advisor I

Reports to: Director of Manufacturing

Summary: This position is responsible for leading a manufacturing shift to ensure meeting quality, cost, delivery, safety and other goals established by the Innovize annual objectives. Through hands-on training and mentoring of production staff, this position requires taking a leadership role in understanding Lean Six Sigma and ISO13485 initiatives introduced by Sr. Manufacturing Manager and successfully translating those initiatives into sustained behavior on the production floor. It will have responsibility for some facility and equipment maintenance, both preventive and repair. This position will develop the production staff into high functioning self-directed work teams that consistently follow procedures, recommend improvements, and enthusiastically meet the needs of their internal and external customers.

Areas of Focus:

Associate's Development (40%)

Advises, assists and supports assigned associates to a specific shift.

Identifies and has in place development plans for direct reports in alignment with company growth objectives.

Assist in coaching and developing Operators and Leads. Creating a talent pipeline and improving associate experiences.

Coordination of Manufacturing Operation (30%)

Support production during daily activities to improve delivery and quality supporting exceptional customer experiences.

Efficiently solves scheduling changes to satisfy customer needs.

Continuously observes operations and schedules to prevent performance loss.

Provides leadership and monitors rotary presses using Mingo. Use the data to improve Availability of presses.

Continues Improvement (30%)

Create a culture to continuously improve Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.

Focal point using LEAN/Six Sigma to improve quality and reduce cost.

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and leadership consistent with the organization's values and principles and holding all direct reports accountable to the same standards.

Drive the overall cleanliness and orderliness of work areas consistent with Lean Six Sigma concepts like 5S, Visual Factory, and Kaizen, and also compliant with ISO13485 standards.

Ensure material I.D., status, segregation, and traceability during all phases of production.

Provide leadership, performance management and overall work direction for a manufacturing shift consistent with priorities established by the Sr. Manufacturing Manager.

Establish training for assigned associates, ensure all training is current and is documented and ensure all staff behavior is in compliance with Innovize procedures.

Review the contents of job jackets daily, identify factors which may be limiting production's ability to follow work instructions, to meet quality requirements or to meet the quoted estimate for material and labor, and forward recommended updates to the Value Stream Managers for review and approval.

Conduct all performance reviews of direct reports on time and use those reviews as a tool to ensure all Associates are fit in a role that exploits their strengths, supports their personal development goals, and meets Innovize's corporate guidelines for retention, development.

Ensure that Performance Improvement Process (PIP) results, time line, and actions for low performers.

Estimate daily temporary labor needs and communicating expectations to staffing agencies; managing temporary and seasonal workforce to include onboarding temporary staff and training.

Training/Education/Experience

High School diploma

Post High School education, preferably a technical degree or certification or equivalent work experience.

3-5 years minimum of leadership experience.

5 years manufacturing experience.

Work experience and or training in Lean Six Sigma manufacturing. Lean Leader certification preferred.

Good working knowledge of ERP systems.

Competencies/Talents/Personal Attributes:

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to recommend and submit production procedure changes for review and approval in accordance with Innovize documentation change control requirements

Strong math skills with ability to understand basic statistics such as means, standard deviations, and control charting

Ability to read blueprints, understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances, and identify non-conformances or borderline quality conditions that require corrective action

Ability to work effectively on computers.

Complete understanding of Epicor production schedule and able to use it to make good production decisions.

A complete understanding of our production equipment, processes and capabilities. Must be able to interact with and explain how the equipment operates and its abilities to be able to present capabilities and operation to new associates and customers.

Must have complete understanding of the safety requirements of equipment and be able to identify and communicate safety issues. Must also be able to explain the safety requirements of the production equipment.

Exceptional organization skills, self-directed, and results driven

Ability to process conflicting information, search for facts, problem solve, and make responsible decisions while under pressure

Excellent coaching and counseling skills

Can speak, read, understand and write English
