Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

3 years of experience in Dense Wave-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) or Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol address (IP) or system design operations methodology.

Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors or vendors in a telecommunications environment.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in one or more of the following disciplines such as layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design or operations.

Understanding of optical design trade offs and TL1/CLI automation.

Proficiency in NPI and writing test plan documents in a lab or staging environment.

Proficiency in creating long-haul optical designs using vendor design tools, applying technical judgement to a given optical design, translating to bits on the wire.

The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale.

Execute deployment, maintenance and operations of private data networks worldwide.

Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low.

Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.

Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans.
