Controls Debug and Commissioning Technician – Ford Axle Project (Fenton to Sterling Heights, MI)
We are actively hiring three experienced Controls Technicians to support the debugging and commissioning of a Powertrain Assembly Line for a major automotive manufacturer. The project begins with the equipment build and startup in Fenton, MI and transitions to installation and commissioning at the Sterling Axle Plant in Sterling Heights, MI starting December 2025 through early 2026.

Initial Startup Site: Fenton, MI
Install Site: Sterling Heights, MI (Ford Sterling Axle Plant)
Tentative Timeline
Fenton Startup: Starting July 2025
2 Controls Technicians: July
1 additional Technician: Mid-July
Sterling Heights Install & Commissioning: December 2025 – Early 2026
Roles & Responsibilities
Perform equipment debugging and commissioning at both the build and install sites
Implement and support Siemens TIA Portal programming
Integrate and troubleshoot Ford FAST PLC Templates
Commission complex Powertrain Assembly Equipment
Interface with Ford Plant Systems including OMS, FIS, IIOT, and QWX
Setup and support Bosch Nutrunners, Promess Presses, and Siemens Servo Drives
Support and debug Gaging Equipment for Axle and Gear components
Candidate Requirements
Intermediate to advanced level experience with industrial automation and controls engineering
Strong background in commissioning powertrain equipment
Hands-on experience with:
Siemens TIA Portal
Ford FAST PLC Templates
Ford OMS, FIS, IIOT, QWX systems
Siemens Servos, Bosch Nutrunners, Promess Presses
Axle/Gears Gaging Equipment
Prior exposure to automotive assembly line integration is highly preferred
Willingness to work in Fenton during build/debug, and relocate to Sterling Heights for final install
