Collins has an opening for an Entry-Level Engineer in our Chesterton, IN, office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of design and inspection projects including bridge, waterfront, roadway, and construction temporary works projects and will be mentored by experienced engineers in the office and field. This is a unique chance to be exposed to multiple disciplines within the transportation industry and offers the opportunity to diversify your skill set.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform design and inspection/field work that does not require previous experience.
Assist in the completion of inspection and assessment reports.
Prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare calculation packages and design drawings.
Can include limited communication with clients.
Instructs draftspersons/technicians on design drawings, data entry, and report preparation.
Field work is required, which could include nights and weekends.
*Relocation is available
*The base salary will be estimated between $70,000 - $80,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Senior or a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
An emphasis in structural engineering is preferred.
At a minimum coursework should include the following:
Structural Analysis
Steel Design
Concrete Design
Previous software experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, or Civil 3D is a plus.
Previous software experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF or other PDF editing software is a plus.
A valid driver’s license.
