Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Manual Machinist / Tool Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, modifying, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using manual machines. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprints, tight tolerances, and hands-on machining techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to fabricate custom tools and parts.
Build, fit, and assemble tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing and production use.
Perform detailed measurements and inspections to ensure all components meet specifications and tolerances.
Troubleshoot and repair worn or damaged tooling and fixtures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with safety policies.
Work closely with engineers, production staff, and other machinists to meet project goals and deadlines.
Document work performed and maintain toolroom records as needed.Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school certification preferred.
3+ years of experience as a manual machinist or tool maker in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
Proficient in reading blueprints, machining symbols, and GD&T.
Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.
Strong understanding of metal properties, machining speeds/feeds, and cutting tools.
Ability to work independently and solve complex machining problems.
Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
