Description:

Position: Electronics Assembler

I. Basic Function of the Job

Produce a variety of small parts and circuit cards, assemble and wire basic components and subassemblies, and perform soldering in accordance with J-STD-001 standards.

II. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Modify, fabricate, and build equipment and subassemblies by working from layout diagrams, schematics, wire prints, and verbal instructions. Align and join parts into housings using hand and power tools.

Install components and parts on chassis, circuit boards, panels, and other units utilizing power tools, hand tools, and various soldering equipment. Route and attach wires and connectors to form circuitry and connect assemblies to power supply sources.

Execute intermediate assembly tasks, including potting, encapsulating, cleaning, coating, epoxy bonding, wiring, stamping, etching, and color coding parts and assemblies.

Wire various cable assemblies inside and outside of chassis; assemble and attach functional and cosmetic hardware such as caps, clamps, and knobs using appropriate tools.

Install finished assemblies and subassemblies into cases or cabinets. Perform touch-up painting on cabinets prior to shipping.

Mount equipment in cabinets or on shelves in vehicles, ships, and test beds following detailed work instructions.

Use visual aids, drawings, and instructions to set up production machinery and equipment to produce small coils and other parts according to specifications.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

Most work occurs in a controlled environment; there may be occasional work outside or in shelters. Extended hours or weekends may be required. Work involves hazardous cutting tools and chemicals.

Required Skills

Ability to sit, stand, and operate hand crimping tools.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds.

Required Experience

Soldering experience in accordance with J-STD-001.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or GED.

Minimum of 2 years of related assembly or electronics manufacturing experience.
