Introduction: The Technology and Communications Assistant will be a part-time, salaried employee working approximately 10-12 hours per week who assists the pastor and other leaders with the churchs internal technology needs as well as helping manage our public facing digital presence.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required; undergraduate education in progress or complete is preferred.
Must have good writing skills and the ability to communicate accurately, simply, and effectively.
Must demonstrate broad knowledge of computers, mobile technology and website platforms and be able to quickly learn how to use new tools.
Must demonstrate familiarity and skill with software programs relevant to the position, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, WordPress, Graphic design software such as Photoshop, video editing software
Must demonstrate familiarity and skill with social media applications and best practices for their use.
Familiarity with the culture and language of church settings is strongly preferred.
Must be able to work on-the-go and occasionally be able to respond to needs at unpredictable times.
Hours and Locations: Hybrid; some of the tasks of this job can be done remotely; some on-site work and some weekend availability needed. Hours will fluctuate and have some flexibility. On-site hours when needed would typically be Sundays 10am-noon, Wednesdays, 6-8pm, and other one-time events.
Responsibilities:
Website
Keep website updated with news, information, recent pictures, etc.
Troubleshoot problems with website
Digital media and worship
Edit videos for worship as needed
Prepare thematic visuals for Sunday worship and when otherwise needed
Load all visual media into ProPresenter for each Sunday worship and special services
Maintain and update the live stream and archive sites as needed
Maintain volunteer schedule for Sunday audio-visual tech and fill in as needed
Provide tech support and run equipment for special services like funerals
Social media and communication
Maintain and regularly post to church Facebook page using best practices for engagement in cooperation with the senior pastor
Create and maintain new social media accounts for the church TBD.
Create short, appealing videos/stories of recent Calvary events to post on social media
Maintain digital library of photos from church events, etc
Respond to messages sent to the church through social media and business profiles as needed or when requested
Send congregational emails and texts as needed when other admins are unavailable
Other
Assist with technology needs for presentations, hybrid meetings, etc.
Assist with managing the church Zoom account and helping members host meetings
Set up audio-visual equipment for outdoor events, etc.
Regularly monitor and respond to messages from staff regarding technology and communication needs.
Train volunteers on new and existing technology and software as needed and requested.
Ensure church licensing and subscriptions are up-to-date.
All other related duties as assigned by the senior pastor.Accountability: Under the supervisory direction of the Senior Pastor, and in the absence of the Senior Pastor, communicate with the Board of Trustees and/or designated technology reps.
