Job Description

About Eyebot

Eyebot is an outcome-focused technology company on a mission to make vision care accessible to everyone, equally. Headquartered in Boston’s North End and backed by top investors and the National Science Foundation, our 90-second vision test kiosk is reshaping how vision care is delivered.

If you’re passionate about solving big problems and building the future of vision care, we’d love to hear from you.

About The Role

We’re looking for a versatile Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of Eyebot’s embedded and electromechanical systems. You’ll work closely with mechanical, software, and product teams to prototype new devices, develop custom PCBs, integrate sensors and optics, and ensure our hardware is production-ready.

This role spans the full stack of embedded development—from board-level design and bring-up to writing low-level firmware and integrating with high-level computer vision systems running on Jetsons and Raspberry Pis. You’ll be hands-on across prototyping, DVT, and deployment.

Note: This is a full-time, in-office role based in Boston. We work together 4-5 days a week to support rapid prototyping and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Do:

Design, prototype, and validate custom PCBs for our next-generation kiosks and testing tools

Integrate image sensors, microcontrollers, lighting, motors, and power systems into robust, testable hardware

Develop firmware to control devices, manage peripherals, and communicate with cloud-connected systems

Work with embedded platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, and STM32

Debug issues across electrical, firmware, and system layers

Contribute to EVT/DVT builds, bring-up, and production test processes

Collaborate closely with software engineers to ensure smooth integration of firmware and hardware interfaces

Document schematics, BOMs, and bring-up procedures for manufacturing and compliance

Example Projects

Design a low-power camera control board with synchronized illumination and precise lens positioning

Build a firmware stack for a motorized vision system with real-time control and feedback

Develop a robust hardware interface to support over-the-air firmware updates and cloud telemetry

Evaluate and integrate sensors for gaze tracking and eye feature detection in a compact optical system

What We're Looking For:Technical

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field

Experience designing, prototyping, and debugging custom PCBs

Proficient in writing embedded firmware (C/C++, bare-metal or RTOS-based)

Familiarity with microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, ESP32) and SoMs (e.g., Jetson, Raspberry Pi)

Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design, power regulation, and signal integrity

Comfortable working across hardware and software to bring up and test new systems

Hands-on experience with tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and soldering rework

Portfolio, GitHub, or project documentation demonstrating relevant hardware workPersonality

You’re energized by fast-paced environments and excited to grow with a startup that’s scaling quickly

You take ownership of your work and care deeply about quality

You hold yourself (and your teammates) to a high bar

You follow through on commitments and take responsibility for outcomes

You bring a low ego, collaborative mindset and a sense of humor. You are easy to work with, open to feedback, and able to keep perspective even when things do not go according to planBonus

Experience with high-speed signaling, EMI/EMC best practices, or safety-critical designs

Exposure to image sensors, lens systems, and computer vision integration

Background in building test jigs or automating hardware testing

Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes for low- to mid-volume production

Experience working within regulated or safety-critical environments (e.g., 60601-1)

What We Offer:

Flexible work schedule with unlimited PTO

A culture where every idea is welcome, no matter how out there it sounds — that’s how Eyebot got started

Full health, dental, and vision insurance

Commuter support and wellness benefits

A collaborative office environment in Boston’s North End, with regular team lunches and a great waterfront location

The chance to build products that improve lives and redefine how vision care is delivered
