Over-the-Road (OTR) CDL-A Drivers

Job Description

Position Overview:

J & M Barr Trucking LLC is seeking a highly responsible and experienced Truck Driver Class A - Flatbed to join our team. The driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods using a flatbed trailer, ensuring compliance with all traffic and safety regulations at a local, regional, or national level. As an OTR flatbed driver, you will haul goods and materials across the country to and from manufacturing plants, retail hubs, and distribution centers.

Responsibilities:

· Operate Class A trucks with flatbed trailers to transport goods safely and efficiently.

· Secure and strap loads properly using chains, straps, and tarps according to safety regulations.

· Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic preventative maintenance of the vehicle daily

· Maintain and secure equipment provided on the truck for load compliance (tarps, chains, straps etc).

· Comply with DOT (Department of Transportation), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, and J & M Barr Trucking LLC company policies.

· Maintain accurate travel records, including logs of service hours and inspection reports.

· Communicate effectively with dispatchers and operations to receive instructions and report any issues on the road.

· Plan routes and meet strict delivery and pick up schedules, must secure loads.

· Must have excellent communication skills with customers and be professional.

· Accurately document HOS, receipts, and daily activities (must use CamScanner for clear digital uploads)

· Candidate must have problem-solving abilities, common sense.

· Maneuver truck into tight loading/unloading areas

· Review and follow delivery instructions precisely

· Report any incidents, violations, or equipment defects immediately

· Candidate must know how to do eld and paper logs.
