Salary: $130-150k + benefits

USC or GC Holder

Compensation:

$130k to $150K + benefits

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.

• 3-8 years of experience in substation equipment engineering.

• Strong knowledge of engineering design principles

• Familiarity with substation equipment codes and standards.

• Experience writing specifications and standards, coordinate engineering projects, and specialization in electrical or power systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with stakeholders

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a qualified Substation Field Engineer to join their P&C Standards team for one of their largest utility clients. The candidate will handle engineering design, problem analysis, and planning tasks of varying complexity. They will also conduct field investigations and prepare relevant reports, specifications, standards, and test records within their area of responsibility.

The Substation Field Engineer will play a crucial role in providing technical guidance and support for the commissioning, construction, and maintenance of major substation electrical equipment. They will be responsible for solving system and equipment problems, performing root cause analysis, and investigating equipment failures. Additionally, the engineer will work independently, initiate investigations, and drive projects to successful completion.

The Substation Field Engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders, including equipment manufacturers, industry standards bodies, and R&D organizations. They will be involved in preparing procedures, participating in project planning and reviews, and providing input on equipment health and replacements. The engineer will also conduct field evaluations, analyze equipment malfunctions, prepare failure analysis reports, and develop test procedures for commissioning and post-repair activities.

As part of the Engineering Duty Roster, the engineer will provide 24-hour support, including reviewing and approving test results and responding to emergent issues, for one week approximately 3-5 times annually. The team supports the five boroughs of NYC, with field engineers assigned to specific boroughs. This role involves 100% commissioning work in the field.
