Job Summary

Providing teens with extracurricular and “normalcy” experiences is about giving them age-appropriate freedom and responsibility. Most youth need to practice the skills they need for adulthood to truly master them. Foster youth—like all children—also deserve opportunities to participate in community and school activities that they enjoy.

This position will support the youth well-being initiative by working collaboratively with foster parents, group home providers, foster care services providers (CMOs), and other community providers to develop and maintain FSS’s youth enrichment programs and the youth advisory board. This position is responsible for ensuring our 13-17 year old population receive the Life Skills training through formal and informal paths. The position is also responsible for the recruitment and coordination of volunteers for these programs as well as design and logistics. The position will also connect youth to positive adults and be the point of contact to support mentor relationships.

Essential Job Duties

Facilitation and implementation of the Statewide Life Skills Program, life skills assessments and informal life skills training. Assisting CMOs with ensuring completion of assessments and Life Skills Program of all required youth. Also, the tracking of these youth and ensuring participation.

Support teen foster parents in implementing various models and approaches to supporting teens in their home and in teaching life skills. Will continue to identify supports, incentives and plans to promote placement stability, youth well-being and preparation for independence.

Manages, coordinates and tracks the FSS teen enrichment programs; both those run by FSS as well as partner organizations. Evaluate the effectiveness of the programs, the need, budgets and ROI. Work collaboratively with CMO services, Community Development and other FSS departments to secure participants and tracking of the programs. This includes securing volunteers as appropriate and as needed.

Creation and implementation of the youth advisory board to include tracking, monitoring, hosting meetings, agendas, support groups, trainings etc. Will also work to grow and expand the youth advisory board’s participation and impact in the system of care and Duval/Nassau community.

Tracking and Managing Data for any and al grants awarded to our YWB programs. Will be responsible for ensuring grant reports are completed and submitted to our Grants Department timely

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience in one or more of the following: community engagement, managing programs, volunteer management, event coordination, and/or child welfare experience with teens.

Valid driver’s license.

Schedule and Hours

Flexible schedule Monday-Friday typically 8:30am - 5:00pm.
