The Aerospace Research Center within the Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Materials Science Engineering seeks a Research Scientist. The position will offer competitive salary and benefits.
The Research Scientist independently designs, manages and performs experiments in hypersonic facilities (such as those both available and desired at OSU) up to test & evaluation facilities at US federal laboratories such as AFRL; develops and deploys modal, reduced-order and data-driven methods for design and analysis of multi-physics experiments and computations, including those that interface with material properties; prepares research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books, tutorials, and other media; presents research findings at national meetings and in other appropriate ways disseminates scientific knowledge to the research community; assist with lab management activities, including training of new members; develops and submits grant proposals of original research as principal investigator (PI); obtains significant research and salary support from external granting agencies; participates in determining research priorities and planning programs of research.
Additional Information:
Required: Doctoral degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study; 2+ years post-doctoral experience in computational and experimental hypersonic structures and materials; author of several high impact journal and conference publications; presenter of papers to professional societies; contributor to new designs or techniques of material significance in the solution of important problems; experience in writing research proposals.; ability to secure independent funding.
