Journeyman Machinist Level 1 Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities: * Promotes Safety and housekeeping as Job #1 at all times.

* Adheres to, promotes, and complies with Company and Management goals, guidelines, rules, policies, procedures, initiatives, and decisions.

* Adheres to productivity metrics regarding machining efficiency (cutting speeds/feeds, time standards, etc.). * Reads and interprets Engineering drawings.

* Makes math and geometric calculations used for programming and machining.

* Follows work instructions and shop travelers.

* Performs routine maintenance on all equipment.

* Completes inspection reports and other documentation.

* Operates drills, grinders, milling machines, cranes, and other equipment in the machine shop.

Rigs, lifts, rolls over castings up to 40,000 lbs.

* Machines castings up to 40,000 lbs.

on manual equipment.

* Ensures safe/correct setup and clamping of work piece.

Accommodates casting variations and deformities in the setup.

* Monitors tool wear and equipment condition including tool holders, cutting tools, drills, taps, etc.

Determines need and replaces defective tooling as needed.

* Ability to correctly use all machine shop measurement instruments including micrometers bore gages, depth micrometers, protractors.

* Interprets Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing; applies as required.

* Understands deflection when machining hard castings and materials and applies corrective measures.

* Understands and applies corrective measures for thermal growth of large white iron castings during machining.

* Understands and performs the operations of re-sharpening CBN tooling.

* Ability to work independently with little supervision.

* Trains others on all the above.

Education: High School Diploma or GED Physical Requirements: * Frequently: * Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping * Lifting, pushing, and pulling <75 lbs.

* Occasionally: * Overhead work * Climbing ladders or stairs * Driving forklifts * Operating cranes GIW Industries, Inc.
