Chief Engineer – Knoxville TN The Chief Engineer oversees the day to day operations of the Engineering Department for WTNZ / WKNX the Fox Affiliate and Independent station in Knoxville, TN.
Candidate must have a strong understanding of live broadcast processes and procedures.
Candidate must have strong IT, and network administration skills and be able to implement best practices to the technical operations.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the support of all broadcast technical facilities, equipment and software applications for local and remote operations, including but not limited to workstations, servers, phones, networks, databases, automation systems, and video and editing equipment used for production and program origination.
Must be able to diagnose and implement fix agents to overcome unexpected technical problems to maintain continuity in on-air broadcast.
Successful candidate should have expertise in RF installation, repair and operation, including terrestrial and electronic news gathering microwave, high power television transmitters as well as C-Band and Ku-Band satellite reception and operation.
Harris/Gates Air transmitters familiarity is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience in a Broadcast environment preferred.
Must be available for on call emergencies.
