Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Butcher to join our team in Forest Park. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and processing a variety of meats to meet high-quality standards. You will work with different cuts, ensuring the meats are prepared according to customer specifications, company standards, and food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Meat Preparation: Cut, trim, and bone a variety of meats (beef, pork, poultry, etc.) using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment, following precise cutting instructions.

- Quality Control: Inspect meat for quality, ensuring it meets health and safety regulations, and company standards.

- Customer Orders: Prepare custom cuts or portions as per customer requests and order specifications.

- Meat Packaging: Weigh, label, and package meat products for display or shipping.

- Maintenance and Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all cutting tools, equipment, and work areas are sanitized according to health regulations.

- Food Safety Compliance: Follow all local and federal food safety guidelines and regulations, ensuring all meat products are handled safely.

- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining inventory of meat supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing waste.

- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain meat processing equipment, including saws, grinders, and slicers.

- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth operations and the efficient flow of production.

Qualifications

- Experience- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a butcher or in a similar role within the meat industry.

- Skills- Proficiency in meat cutting techniques and use of butchering tools and machinery.

- Knowledge-Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.

- Physical Stamina-Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy meat products, and work in a fast-paced environment.

- Attention to Detail- Keen eye for quality control and precision in cutting and packaging meat products.

-Communication-Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well with customers and team members.

Preferred Skills

- Previous experience in a meat processing facility or butcher shop.

- Knowledge of various meat cuts and preparation methods.

- Ability to work in a refrigerated environment for extended periods.

- Adherence to strict hygiene and safety protocols.
