Job Summary:

The Retail Store Manager position leads our boutique team and helps to drive our success. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and experienced retail professional with a strong understanding of women's fashion, exceptional customer service skills, and a keen eye for visual merchandising. This role is responsible for all aspects of store operations, including sales generation, team management, inventory control, and creating a visually appealing and engaging shopping environment that reflects our brand aesthetic. A significant portion of this role will focus on developing and executing effective merchandising strategies to maximize sales and enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

Recruit, train, coach, and motivate a high-performing team of sales associates to achieve sales goals and provide outstanding customer service.

Schedule staff effectively to ensure optimal coverage during peak hours and manage labor costs within budget.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, engagement, and professional growth.

Communicate company goals, policies, and procedures clearly and effectively to the team.

Conduct regular team meetings and provide constructive feedback to enhance the customer experience and increase sales.

Address employee relations issues promptly and professionally, escalating to upper management when necessary.

Sales & Customer Service:

Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, building rapport with clients, and exceeding their expectations.

Drive sales by implementing effective sales strategies, encouraging customer relationships, and being a brand ambassador.

Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns efficiently and professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Ensure customer pick-ups are processed timely and effectively, process orphaned items timely and according to procedure.

Build and maintain strong relationships with loyal customers.

Plan and organize events for the store to drive new business and enhance customer loyalty.

Merchandising & Visual Presentation:

Collaborate with the buying team on product placement and promotional displays.

Develop and implement creative and visually appealing merchandising strategies that align with the brand's aesthetic and current trends.

Plan and execute floor sets, window displays/ mannequins, and in-store presentations to showcase merchandise (clothing and accessories) effectively.

Ensure all merchandise is displayed attractively, organized logically, and replenished weekly to maximize efficiency, sales and customer service.

Ensure all signage, in-store and curbside, is current with featured or upcoming events, features, and sales.

Execute a monthly redo of the store to highlight seasonal and current trending merchandise and drive new sales.

Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment.

Operations & Inventory Management:

Oversee all aspects of daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and maintaining store security.

Manage inventory levels of items needed to run the store effectively (i.e. bags, boxes, paper products, etc.), ensuring adequate stock while minimizing overstock and shrinkage.

Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.

Ensure inventory over 90-days old is marked and managed as sales inventory.

Process shipments, receive merchandise, and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Maintain store facilities and equipment, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.

Financial & Budgetary Management:

Schedule staff effectively to meet business needs while staying within labor budget.

Monitor the sales goals on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and adapt sales strategies to achieve targets.

Host daily and weekly sales meetings with team members to discuss progress towards goals and targeted action plans to meet goals.

Manage and control store event expenses within budget allocated.

Ensure accurate and secure handling of cash transactions.

Manage cash registers and daily cash reconciliation.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive retail management experience, preferably in a women's boutique or fashion environment.

Proven track record of achieving sales goals and delivering exceptional customer service.

Strong understanding of women's fashion trends, styling, and product knowledge.

Exceptional visual merchandising skills and a keen eye for detail.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to motivate and develop a team.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
