Job Description

• SENIOR DIRECTOR OF DATA & AI GOVERNANCE (New York, NY)

Starting Pay: $170,000–$210,000/yr.

Job Duties:

Lead systemwide data and AI governance strategy for the nation’s largest public healthcare system

Ensure data integrity, quality, security, and ethical AI usage across NYC Health + Hospitals

Build and manage a high-performing governance team

Drive regulatory compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, Section 1557, and emerging AI laws)

Oversee implementation of governance tools (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Alation)

Develop and enforce policies for data quality, MDM, metadata management, lineage, and cataloging

Lead initiatives for AI/ML lifecycle risk assessment and compliance

Collaborate cross-functionally to align governance with organizational goals

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Business, or related field

Minimum of 8 years (with Bachelor’s) or 7 years (with Master’s) in healthcare data/administration, with a focus on inter-organizational leadership

At least 10 years of experience in data or AI governance, with 5+ years in a leadership role

Proven experience in healthcare data (provider, claims, clinical, operational)

Deep understanding of compliance frameworks: HIPAA, HITECH, Section 1557, Local Law 144

Familiarity with AI/ML oversight, model monitoring, and risk assessment tools

Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
