Position Overview:
KODA Technologies is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join the Simulation/Ground Data System (SIM/GDS) team in support of NOAA's GeoXO mission. GeoXO is the next-generation geostationary weather satellite constellation providing enhanced environmental monitoring for the U.S.
In this role, you will support the hardware architecture, integration, test, and sustainment of systems used to simulate and operate the spacecraft from the ground. These systems include satellite simulators, command and control infrastructure, telemetry interfaces, and mission rehearsal testbeds.
You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure mission operations hardware (SIM racks, C2 interfaces, mission support benches, etc.) meet system requirements, integrate seamlessly with ground software, and support mission testing from development through launch and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and maintain hardware used in satellite simulation environments and ground data system labs.
Integrate spacecraft simulators, telemetry front-end processors, and C2 (Command & Control) interfaces with mission software systems.
Specify hardware components including servers, network switches, timing systems, and signal emulators.
Develop and execute hardware test plans, hardware/software integration procedures, and performance verification activities.
Support mission rehearsals, hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) tests, and satellite system validation.
Document configuration baselines and maintain compliance with cybersecurity/IT policies.
Provide sustainment support for lab systems including troubleshooting, spares planning, and interface control.
Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant experience.
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
Experience with hardware integration and lab test environments, preferably in aerospace or defense.
Working knowledge of networking, rack hardware, telemetry/command interfaces, and timing/distribution systems.
Familiarity with Linux, serial interfaces (RS-232/422), Ethernet, and RF/IF signal chains.
Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting, cabling standards, and rack-level build documentation.
Strong collaboration and documentation skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior work with space simulation systems (e.g., spacecraft simulators, signal injectors).
Familiarity with ground segment architectures, CCSDS protocols, and PPS/NTP timing systems.
Experience supporting hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) or flat-sat test configurations.
Knowledge of FEPs (Front-End Processors), command/telemetry routing, and EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment).
Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification (for DoD/NOAA cybersecurity compliance).
Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance or NOAA Public Trust.
