Description

The Clearing is a management consulting firm that helps leaders solve complex challenges by turning insight into action. We specialize in diagnosing the root causes of organizational friction across people, processes, and technology, then configuring proven solutions that accelerate meaningful, measurable progress.

Our approach blends analytical rigor with human-centered design. Whether we’re enabling change, optimizing workflows, or guiding smart technology adoption, everything we do is built to scale, repeat, and deliver value. We work across public, private, and mission-driven sectors, partnering with clients to modernize how they lead, work, and deliver.

Our team brings deep experience across disciplines, including change management, strategic planning, organizational design, leadership development, behavioral science, and more. What unites us is a shared belief: real progress happens when we focus on what’s not working, define what’s possible, and deliver outcomes that stick.

If you're excited by purpose-driven work, energized by solving problems at their roots, and passionate about building solutions that last, we’d love to meet you.

Position Description

As a Data Analyst at The Clearing, you will be at the forefront of integrating data insights with strategic consulting to create impactful change. In this role, you won't just tick boxes; you'll embody a mindset that thrives on solving complex problems and driving progress. You will lead tasks, create deliverables, and collaborate across teams to infuse scientific thinking into our consulting work, always aiming for real progress over perfection. You will support client decision-making and improve processes through data insights, accuracy, and integrity.

What You'll Get To Do

Utilize data analysis to support strategic change initiatives, fostering efficiency and innovation in analytical tasks.

Develop compelling reports and presentations that effectively integrate data, storytelling, and visualizations (including dashboards, charts, and graphs) to communicate insights.

Perform advanced coding in tools such as Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, R, Python, and SQL, with a working knowledge of BI tools like Power BI, Qlik Sense, and Tableau.

Analyze trends, clean and prepare datasets, and ensure data quality through extensive peer Quality Assurance (QA) reviews.

Translate client objectives into clear, data-centered strategies, using non-technical language.

Design and implement intelligent workflows and solutions using tools like Zapier, Pickaxe, and Lovable, with a focus on integrating AI large language models (LLMs) into business processes and user-facing applications.

Maintain strong client relationships, support business development efforts, and expand project scopes by sharing insights on emerging trends and market developments.

Lead and facilitate client meetings, manage project lanes, and deliver high-quality, error-proof work on time and within budget.

Actively participate in research, data gathering, and analysis to inform client recommendations and solutions; synthesize and present results.

Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance by completing the necessary background check investigations to perform client work

Willingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (5%)
