Description
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Technician investigates, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment within the assigned department. This position works with supervisor and department members to achieve quality and delivery objectives. This position supports with the training of new associates and cross training of current associates and fills in for production associates during absences. The manufacturing technician also aides in preparation and support of shutdown activities and ensures a safe working environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Identifies faulty equipment and acquires parts and equipment to complete repairs
Repairs production equipment from basic hydraulic equipment to complex CNC machinery, performing mechanical work
Assists supervisor with daily shift meetings and prioritizes and reviews work orders to schedule daily work
Performs preventive and predictive maintenance and basic electrical work
Reviews all non-conforming parts and confirms accuracy and completion of TPM’s
Supports scrap reduction activities
Confirms model changeover confirmation
Confirms quality of parts from all members of team
Gives direct feedback to related associates and directs information to appropriate associates
Has the ability to operate all machines in assigned area and to cover work tasks assigned to group associates
Documents daily activities and completes periodic activity summaries
Performs assigned tasks with minimal supervision or detailed instructions
Confirms accuracy of tool life data
Identifies waste in process and reports to supervisor
Provides technical support to achieve delivery targets and suggests production improvements
Administers training to new associates and cross trains current associates
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
Responsible for knowing and following Company policies as directed by Associate Handbook and the Safety Rules, Regulations, and Quality Manual
Identifies unsafe operations and practices and report the same to Assistant Manager or Supervisor immediately
Qualifications
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must stand for prolonged periods, manipulate and feel objects, tools, or measuring devices
Hand-eye coordination, balance and motor skills
Ability to maneuver around the plant; bend, stoop, lean, squat, move both arms above the head, and move head straight up and down and side to side
Good hand strength, good finger dexterity, and ability to rotate wrist, arms, and shoulders
Required to stand, walk, and carry items weighing as much as 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
Employee must be able to hear, discern, and differentiate noises in a loud environment
Ability to perform tasks that may include prolonged standing, continuous walking, and/or repetitive lifting component parts or assemblies over extended shift lengths
