The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is currently seeking a Program Assistant to support its Sterilization Monitoring Service (SMS). SMS is committed to helping professionals maintain compliance and peace of mind through dependable sterilization equipment monitoring and dental unit waterline testing services.

The SMS Program Assistant serves as a vital liaison between the program and healthcare providers. This role plays a strategic part in expanding awareness of infection control practices and promoting SMS services to general and specialty practices and facilities that require validated sterilization processes. Located within the College of Dentistry, SMS provides testing and related supplies to healthcare clients across the United States.

The Program Assistant will focus on driving awareness, adoption, and continued use of SMS products and services. This includes supporting business growth efforts and contributing to the development of effective marketing strategies. Responsibilities will also involve representing SMS at professional conventions, meetings, and presentations, and engaging with clients both in person and via phone.

An ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and financial management skills, intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Targeted Hiring Pay: $16.65 - $21.75 dependent on experience and education

Screening Requirements: This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.

Physical Requirements: The body must be able to bend, stoop and reach to perform most office duties and lab procedures. The ability to sit and stand for a duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation, manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications, visual acuity, and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: chemical hazards (skin irritants), laboratory equipment, sharp instruments, and latex. Position reports to SMS Program Manager.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School diploma or GED plus 1 year experience in a healthcare or customer service field.

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds.

Desired:

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 2 to 4 years' relevant experience.

Experience working with students, staff, and dental providers.

Must possess a professional demeanor and have experience that demonstrates problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
